I am Loving Red

I know I know I have slacked off something horrible.  With summer break coming to an end I am hoping to be more on track with my blogging.  Tomorrow is the first day back for my not so little man as he enters into the big Grade 2.  I am pretty sure I am more excited than him, I figured once we dropped off his school supplies today he would be a little more excited but not so much.

Last year I had seen on another blog a credenza and I told my husband I must have one of those.  I searched Kijiji and found this fantastic credenza for $50.00.  My husband thought it was so ugly and way to heavy but he brought it home anyway.

It has sat in my basement for a little while waiting to be love and finally it got its face lift.

Picking the color was the hard part, first I painted it a white but it just didn't do it justice.  Once I started working on the rest of the room and changing wall colors there was no question that red was the perfect choice.  There are some nice chrome pieces on the bottom of the credenza so I picked up these handles to match.  Next thing is to accessorize the top, which of course is my favorite part.

Hope you enjoy and are all having a fantastic week.

Karate Belt Display

My Oldest son has been in Karate for the past 3 years and has been accumulating Karate belts.  I have put them aside and tried to come up with something to present them and show all his hard work.

I wanted to incorporate his belts along with pictures of him throughout the years at his belt ceremonies.  I started with a simple box and then added in the cubbie and finished it off with backing the photo boxes with scrapbook paper and the pictures.

Lack Of Craftyness

Okay I will admit it, the last week has been a write-off for creating anything.  But for good reason, we have been so busy having a good time.  With only 2 weeks left until school starts we have to get in all the activities we can.

The boys and me started our week of fun at the park.

Then we decided to hit up our local corn maze, the kids could spend days there.

The boys spent alot of time over with the animals

On our way to do the maze

This is probably the best idea ever, instead of a sandbox they have this fantastic little barn full of corn.

Some fun in the sun and on the lake doing some boating

To end of the week we got a babysitter and my husband and me were able to do a little riding.

So with the weather forecast showing rain for the week I promise to get my crafting on and show you some more goodies.  I hope everyone had a good weekend.

Letter R & Theater Room Picture Wall

It all started with this letter R and grew from there

I had some scrap plywood in the garage so I drew out a large letter R and then gave the jigsaw a whirl for the first time.

Okay yes I know it isn't perfect but I guess that's what I like about it, the imperfections just adds character to it.  Once I got this cut out my poor letter R went through an identity crisis, first it thought it wanted to be white, than black and finally it ended up deciding on Red with a touch of rustic.

I think the red Suits it

This fantastic "R" needed a little bit of company so I grouped it with some pictures of my husbands motorbike.  I edited each picture in photoshop different so they were not to matchy.

I like the chrome looking one, has a cool vintage look to it.

I wanted to add a touch of yellow so I used fabric that I painted and then used as a back drop to this black and white picture.

Fence Love

Another wonderful weekend has come and gone, I hope that you all had a great weekend as well.

I was busy this weekend finishing up my fence project and I am officially in love. I know I know another sign but these will be the last ones for awhile.

Last summer I took my family on a trip all the way across Canada to Moncton, NB where my dad is from.  My Grandfather has the last standing farm right in the middle of town.  He has this cool old barn filled with years of treasures and memories.  One of them happened to be this sign which I fell in love with while we were there.  So I decided to make a copy of it for my backyard fence project.

The Original

My Reproduction

My Antiques Sign

I picked up this cute birdhouse at the dollar store and added some paint to it to add a little bit of fun.

I am so happy with my finished product.  With extra wood and paint I already had I just had to buy a few 1x4's so this whole fence project cost me under $20.00.  I love how the backyard fells more like a home and not just a backyard.  Truly makes a difference.

These Rustic letters are too cool

I want my theater room to have this cool vintage and industrial feel to it so I am loving both this desk and the table.

I am going to make these for my boys, maybe if their names are on them they will keep track of their own towels, plus I know which child has not put their towel away, lol.

Feature

Thank you so much to Thrifty Decorating for featuring my Planter Boxes.  Hop on over and check it out.

Kids Lunch Boxes

So with school just around the corner I have been on a hunt for some new lunchboxes.  I wanted something eco friendly that I don't need containers or extra bags for.  After doing lots of searching I have found these Go Green lunch boxes.

They have several different styles of cases so I am going to let the boys pick out their own case to go with their personalities.  I just wanted to share because I thought they were so neat.

Fantastic Long Weekend & A Sigh of Relief

This weekend marked my families annual camping trip which was filled with a lot of fun, laughs and a few tears.  In total we had 11 kids and 10 adults.  We filled our days with rafting, fishing, dirt biking, and telling stories.

Although on our first day down at the river it starting out perfectly all the boys and Granny and Grandpa were headed down the river for some rafting fun.  I seen them off and then headed off down the path to run and grab my camera from the vehicle.  When I got back I started to take some pictures and then I did my 5 minute head count.  1,2... No Three. Makai my 2 year old was missing.  My dad said he turned for 2 minutes and he was gone.  Within second every adult with us and about 25 more bystanders were on a search for him.  I was absolutely beside myself and after about 10 minutes I just broke down.  It was probably the worst 10 minutes of my entire life.  Just then they came around the corner.  The little monkey had decided he wanted to go rafting again and went back up the path by himself.  By the time my dad had found him he was almost at the beginning of the path which was a long way up.  Makes you re-evaluate a little bit after something like that happens.  I am so happy that when you are in a crisis moment how many people will jump in and help you no matter what.

Once we were able to get over that the rest of the weekend was filled with a lot of fun.

We were lucky this year that we had a tap for the sprinkler just across from our campsite for a little slip 'n slide fun.

In our family even the big kids join in the fun

One of the sandy areas had this incredible mud pit that the kids had so much fun playing in.  They even got to have a little mud fight with grandpa.

I hope everyone else had a good time this weekend.
